Visa
Visas are required for citizens of T&T wishing to travel to Cuba. Tourist visas may be obtained prior to travel through the Cuban Embassy located at 74 Elm Avenue, Bayshore, Westmoorings. Passports and travel documents including airline tickets are required for the issuance of the visa. Alternatively, tourist visas are usually available at the Piarco International Airport from the Airline’s Agents. Travellers travelling through Panama may also obtain visas at the airport there.(In Panama) The price for the tourist visa is in the vicinity of TT$ 130.00 or USD$ 20.00.
Currency used
The currency used in Cuba is the Cuban Peso, also referred to as the CUC for international visitors. Travelers are advised to avoid the US dollar as it attracts a penalty on conversion, usually approximately 10%. Other currencies such as the Euro, Canadian dollar or Pound Sterling do not attract such and are therefore recommended. It is also advisable to change the foreign currency to the CUC on arrival at the airport in Cuba if arriving in Havana, at the authorized Cambio there.
Language
The official language is Spanish. However, translators will be provided at the Health facilities as part of the offering.
Courtesies
Patients will be met at the Airport by representatives of the medical service provider and transported to and from the assigned facility.

As a courtesy, and with the patient’s permission, we would send an advisory to the Embassy advising of your visit for medical purposes and the anticipated duration of staying in Cuba.
Travel Insurance
It is recommended that each patient who accepts the offer to travel to Cuba, acquire Travel Insurance as is a good practice for any overseas travel. This is usually offered and available through travel agents at the time of making flight arrangements.
Costs Estimates
The cost of the medical services to be provided are estimates only based on the best assessments made by the panel of doctors on the screening information provided by the patient prior to his/her visit. Further treatments may be required while there based on further investigations at the facility. As such, patients are advised to make adequate provisions for additional funding cover for such contingencies. The amount would be on a case by case basis.
Estimates are usually provided for the cost of the proposed medical procedures, tests, medicines while at the facility, accommodation, meals at the facility, ground transfers to and from the facility from the airport. All, expenses incurred while in Cuba are the responsibility of the patient and payable to the service provider there. In certain cases, arrangements may be made to have funds transferred directly to SERVIMED (the service provider) through Cubanidad’s account.
All payments are to be made in full upon arrival to Cuba for all medical procedures.
Patients are required to make their own air travel arrangements and provide Cubanidad with the full itinerary at least 10 working days prior to the intended travel, so as to allow us to reserve accommodation etc at the facility. In cases of emergency shorter notice times may be advanced.
